I hope everyone is staying safe during the pandemic and keeping others safe. I love it when readers send me pictures of Maiden Hills. Here’s my sister on a domestic flight, wearing a face mask, and reading my book. Everyone needs support from their family and friends, and the road from writing a novel to publishing is a long one, and I couldn’t have done it without the support of my family. People have asked me—what’s writing a book like? I would never describe it as easy, but the word enjoyable pops into my head. Can something be enjoyable and difficult? Yes—if it’s done with a passion. Creating stories and watching them come to life is what writing is about, and it gave me a lot of pleasure to see my characters grow and take on a life of their own. It took a lot of writing, rewriting, and reading, but I found myself not being able to stop. The hours seemed to drift by as I found myself immersed in the story.
The book launch is tomorrow. Andy from 3p Publishing will kick it off live on Facebook from his office in England, and I will be in New York. This will be the first time he has done a cross-Atlantic book launch, so it should be interesting. Keeping my fingers crossed all goes well.
I’m excited to spread the word of my debut novel and hope that everyone who reads Maiden Hills, will fall in love with the story and the characters as I have.
